Abandoned/Missing dog found in Bandar Kinrara

An SOS from fellow dog lover. Please help forward this to your friend and relative that stays in Bandar Kinrara. We truly hope that this is a missing and not abandoned dog. Thanks XY Soo for the love and care you’re giving to this dog

Hi ,

I found a dog this evening (18/4/2011) wandering around in my neighbourhood ( Bandar Kinrara 4, Puchong). It might be a stray, or maybe somebody's pet who happen to lost his way home ( or worse still, being abandoned). Anyway, can I have his photo posted in your blog?? So that his owner ( if he has one) or kind soul out there who can give him a home will come and take him home.

Btw, I've named him Alex for the moment ( after my previous dog).

Gender: Male

Coat: Short

Size: Medium

Age: not too sure, but still at puppy stage

Location: Currently in my house, Bandar Kinrara 4.

Personality: Not friendly towards other dog. Submissive type, but once you get to know him, he's quite manja.

Contact: 0165677016 ( sms preferred, I might be in class sometimes not able to pick up phone) or email to dukenikkon@gmail.com

** PS: Alex do looks like Tiger, same type of coat.

Us : yes, he does look like tiger =) what a special stripes on his body >_<

Million thanks for your time.

Regards,

XY Soo

Any dog lover in Ipoh? Please lend a helping hand

This is an SOS posted in http://www.myanimalcare.org/ and we like to help highlight the plight of Imm hoping that this will reach out to dog lovers in Ipoh. If you love dogs and stay in Ipoh, why not lend a helping hand?

Running a dog shelter is never easy, especially if you’re doing it alone. We can only sing praises to Imm for her dedication and passion in saving the strays.

Below are the SOS post extracted from http://www.myanimalcare.org/.

Two days ago, my friend, Judy, from Ipoh, wrote me to asking if I could extend some help to this lady, Oei Phaik Imm, aged 64, who lives in Tambun, Ipoh.  Apparently, Imm (as she is known) has been rescuing animals for about 20 years now.  Currently, she has 29 cats and 30 dogs in a shelter that she set up by herself and manages all alone.  At the point of writing the email, Judy said Imm was in very poor health and could barely manage the shelter anymore.
Yesterday, I managed to establish email contact with Imm and I wrote to ask what help she needed.  Imm said she could not manage the shelter anymore and was very worried about the future of her 59 animals.  She needed, most of all, volunteers to go in to help her with the managing of the animals.  She also needed funds.  I told her I would do my best to raise funds to help her out.  I have contacted two friends who are now trying their best to find volunteers from Ipoh to help Imm but until now, we still cannot find anyone who is able to do the physical work.
This morning, Judy sent an urgent email saying Imm is on the verge of collapse.  Yesterday, the water supply was cut and there is no water at the shelter.  Imm has been extremely depressed and stressed out due to worry and poor health.  There is no one to look after the 59 animals now.
I was going to wait for Imm's bank account no before sending out this appeal but it looks like I cannot wait anymore.  Time is of the essence and I am writing now to appeal for everyone's help to help Imm and her 59 animals.
This is what she needs:
1.  Volunteers to go in to help Imm with the 59 animals.  Her shelter is located in Tambun, Ipoh.  Please forward this to your friends in Ipoh.  For further details of the location, please write to me at chankahyein@gmail.com
2.  Funds to help her with animal food, bills, etc.  We are already sending her funds as soon as I get hold of her bank account number.
Updates: Maybank account no: 108178732851  (Oei Phaik Imm )
Please follow-up with an email to pioei@yahoo.com and chuajl@myjaring.net so that your donations can be acknowledged and recorded.
For further details, please read the emails below:
This is the email from Judy, sent two days ago:

I'm writing to ask you if you know of any animal lovers in Ipoh who are willing to help my friend, Oei Phaik Imm, with volunteer work in her sanctuary for stray and abandoned cats and dogs. I have been going in daily (except for Sat) for the past 3 weeks to help in the cats section, whilst Imm does the dogs section.
Imm is single, and has been rescuing stray cats and dogs for almost two decades. When MBI served her notice due to complaints from her neighbour (she had housed the strays in her home in Canning), she had to evaccuate them and was very fortunate that that proprietor of a hardware shop she frequented offered his orchard for her use. The orchard was in Bercham, it was fine except there was no running water so she had to fetch water daily to the shelter.
A couple of years ago someone told her of a vacant piece of land at the foot of the hills in Ampang near Tambun town. This site was more conducive as it's nearer where Imm is staying. Imm has sold her Canning home and had moved to a rented house. The suggested site is next to an orchard and Imm could get water for her shelter by having a pipe connection to the orchard. Imm has been running her animal shelter practically all by herself.
In mid Jan this year, I was appalled to see that she had lost a lot of weight. It got worse when she caught the flu and was almost on the verge of collapse. That's when I stepped in to give my support, accompanying her to her sanctuary every morning to help clean the place and feed the cats and dogs. At last count, she has 30 cats and 30 dogs. My sis has also been supporting her by preparing nutritious meals for her lunch and dinner for over a month.
Imm turned 64 in Jan this year and she realises that she's no longer as fit & strong as she used to be. Her daily commitments running the shelter by herself has taken its toll, she's frail and weak and is concerned that should she collapse and either die or be hospitalised, there would be no one to care for her animals. I share her concern as I can't take on the responsiblity for her sanctuary as I already have 8 cats and 3 dogs, and I'm def'ly no spring chicken, this chook is also her 60s.
Imm now finds it extremely stressful and difficult to continue her work at the shelter by herself. She is all alone and has not been able to find volunteers to help her. I gave her your book this morning and suggested that she reads the last chapter on Wendy. I know Imm loves all her cats and dogs and it's tearing her apart not knowing what would happen to her cats and dogs should she be no longer able to care for them. I have tried telling her to stay positive, to get back her health, and make a wish that she can live long enough to care for all her aninmals until they die naturally. This is the wish I make for myself that I need to be alive and well for another 10-15 years, we both need to outlive our present cats and dogs.
The shelter needs volunteers who can come in to do hands on cleaning, sweeping the poo and pee, cleaning the feeding bowls, changing fresh water for drinking, burning the rubbish etc. It takes 3 to 4 hours for the two of us to do basic cleaning. I do the cattery and Imm does the kennels. We start off for the sanctuary around 9.30am, it's only 15 mins drive from Imm's place in Tambun town. We finish the cleaning and feeding by 12.30pm , 1pm depending on the workload. It will be wonderful if there are extra hands, as the cats and dogs can then get more personal attention and play time.
I would love you to be able to visit Imm's sanctuary so you can see her needs, and perhaps help her in any way you can.
After receiving Judy's email, I wrote to Phaik Imm to ask how we can help her. The following are excerpts from her emails to me:

---------- Forwarded message ----------

From: Phaik Imm Oei pioei@yahoo.com

Subject: Re: How can I help?
To: Chan Kah Yein chankahyein@gmail.com
Dear Kah Yein
Thank you for your reply. I would appreciate if you can find someone to take over my shelter in Tambun, Ipoh. I cannot do it anymore alone. If you could raise some funds to feed the animals it would be great. I would like to talk to you if you can email me your tel.no.
I have 30 dogs and 29 cats with me. Can you ask for donations for me and if possible somebody to take over the shelter. People who wants my shelter wants me to put my dogs down to make way for their dogs.
I am so happy to hear from you. Thank you very very much.
Kind Regards
Phaik Imm

And two more emails:

Thank you. Judy will be sending her friend this Saturday to take the photos for your blog. I do not have a camera to take the photos and I don't know how to send them to you. I will hang on to the dogs for a little while longer. I am old and very stressed out. I love animals but I really cannot manage them anymore now and feel like giving up. You gave me a ray of hope.
My Animal Shelter is in a farm nearby in Tambun, I have built a little house there with a toilet nearby. There is a fenced up area for the cats and shelters for the dogs.around. Judy will send you pictures of them this weekend.
I used to help SPCA a long time ago. I do not think I want my animals to be there. Anyway, they are full to the brim. I don't think that they can help.
By the way, just to let you know, I don't treat my animals like shelter animals. They are very close to me and I see them everyday. Take them to the vet when they are sick and really love them. I don't want them to starve or suffer. My heart is very painful too.
Thank you very much.
Kind Regards
Phaik Imm
Although our funds are primarily used to sponsor spaying-neutering and medical treatments for animals, we do make an exception with needy cases (like Meiji, Siti from Melawati, etc.) where I will seek permission from the donors to channel their donations to these cases for food and other needs.
For Imm, we will start the ball rolling by sending her money so that she can buy food for her dogs and cats. The latest email from Judy (below) says the water supply at Imm's shelter has been cut (the bill has not been paid) and they are coping without water now. Imm needs funds, but more urgently, she needs volunteers to help her out with the daily cleaning and managing of the animals.
I think the immediate solution is to round up volunteers to take care of the shelter and have Imm rest her body and mind for at least even a couple of days.  I fear she's at the end of her tether.  I spoke to her a few minutes ago, she was just leaving for the shelter.  She sounds really stressed.  Also, she's been having dizzy spells twice this week.  The water problem is like the straw on the camel's back.
I will also source for food donations for Imm's animals. But what she needs most of all now are volunteers who can help out with the daily managing of the shelter and the animals.
If you would like to help Imm, please forward this link to your friends in Ipoh (or those who know people in Ipoh) and help us find volunteers who can go in and give her a hand as soon as possible.
I will post Imm's bank account no after I have got it from her.  Photos would have to wait until next week.
Imm is currently in desperate and dire need for help. We empathise with that and will do everything possible to help her and her animals. We hope you will help too.
29 cats, 30 dogs and 1 human are awaiting help.  Please help.
Please forward this link.
Thank you

Urgent Fosterer/Adopter needed for Keenan & Kal

This is an appeal for a fosterer or adopter for Keenan and Kal, whose owner will be migrating to Australia. We only have until this Saturday to look for someone to foster or adopt them. They do look a little like a mixed golden breed to us.

Please, if you or someone you know are interested to adopt them or temporarily foster them, do write to us at missionshare5@gmail.com

SOS from Geeta:

They are about 8 years old, not neutered (but I don't mind sponsoring the neutering costs * God bless your kind soul, Geeta*).  They are mongrels and very friendly.  They love each other and have to be separated from their mum who is going to Australia to be with her son & husband, so it would be good if they (the dogs) are kept together.  But if they can find homes and friends separately, it doesn't matter, we can't be choosy.

Abandoned dog need a foster home!

We spotted this beautiful dog wandering around the area in Happy Garden Old KlangRoad 2 weeks ago.
She does not look like a stray at all from what we observed. After several round of feeding and checking, we managed to talk to the neighbourhood aunty and found out that it is an abandoned dog belong to an old uncle who stay in a corner lot house.

Poor dog was crying and whining for the first week after being abandoned and trying to get back to the gate of her old place where she used to stay. We are really puzzled as to why people can just leave their dog behind for no reason. This dog is human friendly and is not afraid of us when we approached her.

We had tried to persuade the uncle to let her stay until we find a foster home or an adopter for the dog but the uncle is somehow very reluctant to take in the dog, not even for a few days!! It is really heartbreaking to see people can just abandon their previous pet for whatever reason they can think of.

We are urgently calling for help to look for a foster home for this poor dog before she is being taken away by DBKL. She does not deserved to be left behind like this, what sin she has created to end her life like this.

Sorry for the blurry pictures coz we can only manage to get close to her at night time, she is definitely feeling lonely and depressed due to the sudden turn of her life, from a pet dog to a stray, she may not even be able to protect herself to look for food and shelter.

Please Please please give us a call, a week or 2 weeks stay is great enough for us to buy time for this poor dog, we are trying our very best to get a home for her.
Or better still an adopter for her. Kindly write to us at
missionshare5@gmail.com or call Vivienne at 012-2521562.

Urgent Help needed

We received following SOS from Teresa. Please please help if you’re staying near Old Klang Road.

Attached are pics of a brown dog, whom I have befriended and named Moolloo.

His behavior seems quite peculiar to me. I have been feeding him from last Thursday.

No idea where he came from but he seem like a very young dog (clean white teeth & is very active).

He takes shelter under the plants at the Jalan Klang Lama - Jalan Puchong intersection.

At rush hours (mornings and evenings), I'll find him chasing cars and motorbikes. When the vehicles stops at the traffic light, he would go around sniffing the tyres. My heart nearly jumped out today when I saw him running towards trailers and lorries. Anything can happen to this fearless dog. He is clearly at risk of being a road-kill.

He is very friendly and let me pat him.

Last night, I tried to put a leash on him but he got scared and ran away.

Today, he greeted me briefly and went on his rampage.

Maybe he was waiting or looking for his owner who dumped him there?

I am writing to ask for help to capture Moolloo because I am not experienced enough to catch him on my own. I will rehome him.

Please post this on your website. Thank you.

How everyone can help

HELP!!!

we’re currently bogged down with too many rescues and not enough helpers/volunteers/fosterer/adopters..

Our hands are really full and we’re really sorry we’re not able to answer all cries for help. We don’t even know how long do we have before we’re being evicted and we can’t imagine what will happen to the furrizens at the shed if we’re not able to secure a land then.

Candy Kelly Angel

So far we’re very fortunate that the temple are kind enough to let us occupied the empty land behind them. Once we’re evicted, we will have to start renting, and these days, renting land does not come cheap. This, together with the expenses for the necessities, cost a bomb. And as everyone know, we depends very much on public donation for the upkeep of the shelter and the furrizens.

What everyone can do to help?

Choose to adopt

The rescued strays are just as adorable, truly. And they will still love you unconditionally.

Jojo Mei Mei Kow Kow

Be a responsible pet owner.

Please do not abandon your pet just because they’re sick or old, or because you have too many since they gave birth and you realize you can’t cope with it ( This can be easily prevented by spaying your pet ). We seen too many cases of pet abandonment lately..

TNR

Trap, Neuter, Release/Rehome. You may not see the immediate effect in short term, but this could really help reduce the number of strays in long term. There are also other benefits particularly relating to their health.

Every Help count

You can help too in your way just by feeding them. Although this does not provide them a roof over their head, at least they don’t go hungry =)

Volunteer

We’re forever looking for volunteer to help out at the shed, or help us foster.. or help us during our adoption drive.. Do write to us if you like to volunteer your time =)

young female dog abandoned @ Salak South

A young female dog was spotted loitering at a premise of a kindergarten near MCA Salak South . Pretty tamed and timid, she is believed to be an abandoned dog.
A construction uncle is kind enough to bring her some food whenever he is around to do his painting work. Vivienne was alerted by the appearance of this female dog and she has taken some photos.

Due to the fact that our shed is overwhelming with the increasing population, we are not able to do much for the moment but just to provide her some food whenever we can and try to make friend with her. The construction job will end very soon and what worry us is that this female dog might be chased away by the construction workers before the school reopened.

Female dogs is about 7-8 months old and looks clean and healthy. If you have any friends who has a lost dog near the area like this brownish girl, please contact us. If you are able to provide a foster home while we try to look for a home for her, you are more than welcome to give us a helping hand. Yes, but no, we mean a helping hand to this poor girl.

Please write to us at missionshare5@gmail.com for more information or you may contact Vivienne at 012-2521562~

The sign that left us devastated

The moment that we all have been dreading has finally show up one day in the form of a big notice board…

IMG_0013

The place that we’re currently occupying to temporarily house the rescued strays and abandoned pets will be developed in the near future.

While we’re searching up and down for new place to relocate our shelter, we hope to get furrizens here rehomed. Please, if you or somebody you know is looking for a pet, why not get them to adopt instead. The furrizens here may not be of pedigree breed, but they deserve a loving home and family as well. And if you’re not sure if you’re ready for a pet, you can always choose to foster.. We love to have more people helping us to foster as this mean they will be more well taken care of and receive the care and attention they needed. With the shed being over-populated and us being short-handed, there’s only so much care and attention we can provide to the animals there.

Anyone know where can we rent or buy a piece of land for really really low price please do write to us. Or.. it would be an utter joy and delight for us if someone would lend/donate a small piece of land…please please.. We and the furrizens would be eternally grateful..

Fosterer urgently needed to safe the family of 6!

Mrs Ding from Serdang called to ask for help on her strays that she has been feeding for the past few months. The mama dog has delivered a litter of 6 in the middle of last month. Mrs Ding on her own capacity has rehomed one of the pup and hence now left with 5 pups. She urgently need help to put the family in a safe place, and at the same time, to look for a home for the 5 cuties.

Mrs Ding will adopt the mama dog once all the pups are rehomed. What worried Mrs Ding is that the dog catcher team in the local council may come in anytime.

All the pups are perfectly healthy. We will try our best to help Mrs Ding to rehome the pups, but at the mean time, we are of the view that a foster home would be the best for this family.

Please contact us or write to us if you are willing to give us your helping hand…Paws Mission will be organizing another adoption drive in the very near future and the date will be announced soon. What we need is just a clean and safe place for these homeless babies for the very moment.

Please help us to help the animals.
Please call vivienne 012-2521562!

Foster home urgently needed for 2 pups

A SOS mail from E-Ching , on behalf of rescuer Deborah Ong, urgently seeking help to rehome 2 cute pups or a temporary foster home :

“ Two female pups, local breed, one month old. Mummy dog is a stray.

The pups and Mummy are staying on the 3rd floor landing of a shop lot which house workers of the Fu Kua Restaurant downstairs.

They are healthy. But one of the workers (Myanmese) who looks after them said that his co-workers are complaining about the pups. So he is going to throw them out but will keep the Mummy.

I pleaded with him to let them be at least until this weekend whilst I try to re-home them.

If you want to adopt, please call Deborah, 016 3304533”

Get Well Soon, Midnight!

P1050941
Midnight is a very gentle & friendly cat. No matter how much pain he endures, he just never bite or scratch.
When I saw Dr edmund & his assistant removed the needle (for IV drip) on his right arm, changing bandage around his neck, cleaning the wound area around his neck, he never attack the vet. He whines a bit. All you need to do is to comfort him & calm him down while he was in pain.

I almost cried when I saw this.

P1050944

I was having fever &  terrible sore throat since last Wednesday. I can barely eat due to sore throat. I have been complaining since then.

I shouldn’t have complained n kept whining. Midnight’s situation is 1000000 times WORSE than me. He is having (abnormal) oesophageal stricture near his chest area. Part of his oesophagus near the chest is so narrow that even 6ml of liquid food COULD NOT pass through after 1 1/2hours! Can you imagine how much pain he is enduring now? Mind you, Midnight is only a 6months old kitten. Just in case you are wondering why is he having bandage around his neck? This is because Dr Edmund tried inserting the feeding tube for him but he has no luck. Even the tiniest feeding tube couldn't go through. Whenever Midnight eats, the food will came out from the hole near his throat.

When he reached Auntie Kiew’s place, he was so manja & wanted Auntie Kiew to pat him. I supposed no one pat him for the past few months at the vet. Who has the time to pat a manja, sicked kitten in the clinic?
His tail was so dirty as Dr Edmund said most likely Midnight was too weak to even groom himself. Most cat lovers / cat owners know how hygienic the cats are. I don’t know as I have never keep a cat before =P

P1050940 P1050943
No worries, Midnight! You will be fine.
** Ah Brown & LarCharMau sending their LOVE to midnight **

P1050957  P1050972
The special liquid diet for Midnight & the letter from Dr Edmund

   P1050965 P1050968
Midnight is now Buncit & Comot’s flatmate

Eventhough some vets actually suggesting us to put him down as there is really, really nothing much we could do, but we aren’t gonna give up on him.

Please please please, send your positive thoughts & love to Midnight. Or if you came across vets that are good with cats, please let us know. We will try our best to help him. Midnight has never give up on himself, so why should we give up on him? FYI, Mrs Lai is sending him to UPM tomorrow. Finger crossing there will be good news.

Our Lady Marisa recovered miraculously. So we are hoping that there will be a miracle for Midnight’s case too. Please let us know how you could help us to help Midnight.

Midnight Blues

P1040344

Midnight / Hitam the black cat that has been sent to Dr Edmund for a special x-ray ( dunno what its called) kept vomiting whenever she eats. After continuous feeding her for every 15 mins to 30 mins, and snapping x-rays at the same time, no intestinal obstruction or partial obstruction (as earlier suspected) was detected. Not a good news.... Instead, she has a narrowing at her esophagus near her chest area. She was only fed about 6c.c. (around 6ml) of food and after 1 1/2 hours, the food was still stuck there. =((

Midnight dare not eat anymore as she knows she will vomit whenever she eats. Liquid / fluid will pass through the narrowing part, but not feeding her too much at one time. Only small amount of food will pass through as she poops once in a while (though very little).

A tube has is suggested to be put through from her throat to stomach. The tube will be placed for a month so that she can be fed regularly to fatten her up. If the tube is removed the problem will come back again as the tube is not for enlarging the narrowing part, the tube is for food to pass through to her stomach.

We need someone to foster her, feed her regularly, bit by bit, making sure she gets adequate food intake. Can't force feed too much as the food will get stuck n she will start to vomit again. =((

Fosterer needed urgently

A contractor whom Vivien knows of called to ask for her help to rescue 2 pups that he has been keeping since Feb 2010.

v2

This is the mama Shih Tzu. Caged 24/7 and barely have space to move and below are her little pups. In different cage. separated from her, also caged 24/7!

v1v3v4v5v6 v7 v8

Both pups are believed to be around 5 months old but weigh barely more than 1kg. They are obviously under weight and malnurioush. Uncle seems to be ignorant of what is happening.

Vivien decided to rescue the 2 pups but she urgently needs help to look for a fosterer. She also found that uncle is unfit to keep the mama, she will try to persuade him to let her take the mama dog away.

She will send the 2 pups for a thorough health check while we are trying our best to look for a fosterer for the 2 pups. It is better for a tiny pup to go to a home environment especially when their health need to be boosted.

If you would like to adopt the pups or give them a temporary home, please do not hesitate to contact us or give Vivien a call at 012-2521562.

If you are not able to reach us, please send us mail at missionshare5@gmail.com
