A Burmese Story

There is a great Burmese man is working in a workshop in Puchong. He has rescued  many homeless dogs around his work place and has been caring for them.

I was driving around in Bandar Bukit Puchong when I saw some dogs hanging around some shops. Just as I wondered how these dogs were going to get food when all shops were closed on Sunday and not a soul was around. I saw this man cycling with his toddler child sitting in the bicycle basket, he was bringing some food for the dogs.

Apparently Micheal (his name) lived in an apartment quite far away (from the way he panted), he worked in one of the shops and have been taking care of these few dogs ( 7-8 of them). He worried the municipal council people would catch them, so he made some cages to put them in so they could be safe.

The dogs had skin problems and were not neutered, I advised him to take the dogs to a nearby clinic (Dr. Tan's Citivet clinic) for all necessary medical care including neutering them and I would pay for the bills. He readily agreed to do it . When I called him few days later, he had brought all the dogs for the first mange jabs. Of course, he did that by taking them one by one on his bicycle.

It has been three months now, and the dogs haev recovered from mange problem and four of the dogs have been neutered and the others have to delay surgery till their medical conditions are better.

As it was getting too crowded in the cages, I brought two of the female dogs back to our shelter.I have named them Leena (black color) and Laina (dark brown color), both of them are female, six months old and have been spayed. I hope people can give them a loving home.
Those who are interested to adopt them, please call Mrs Lai 16 3323382 , Kim 012 9192263 or Mei Leng 012 9761958.

What touched me is when our country men are busy abandoning dogs, this man from Burma has no qualms spending so much time, energy and money to take care of them. His selfless act really puts many of us to shame.  His boss's kindness of letting the dogs kept in fornt of his shop should also be commended.
I hope people who lives near there can help him with some donation in kinds, it is getting a bit tough for him to feed them.

Small and crowded make shift cages, at least it is a shelter and safe from being caught

Two dogs were kept in this cage

Leena, a sweet natured black female dog, only 6 months old

Laina, a beautiful dark brown female dog, 6 months old.

How can we contribute to Michael for the upkeep of the dogs? E.g supply of dog food and meds? Do you collect on his behalf and deliver to him or we deliver to him directly? Thanks!
