Give a dog a home

INDEPENDENT dog rescue group Paws Mission will hold its inaugural adoption drive on April 17 at the Waterfront in Desa Park City from 11am to 6pm.

There will be more than 30 cute and adorable puppies, mostly below the age of six months, looking for homes as well as several adult dogs.

“We urge people to adopt a pet and save a life. Our rescued pups and dogs are lovable and will become lifelong friends and companions,” said Fan Sau Meng, a coordinator for Paws Mission.

The group comprises several individuals dedicated to protect the welfare of homeless pups and dogs through education, health care, adoption and promotion of foster care as an alternative approach to traditional shelters.

Adorable: These two puppies are among those available for adoption.

Often, many pups were found dumped in the market place by irresponsible dog owners who had refused to neuter their animals.

The animals are currently housed at a temporary shelter in Old Klang Road but need to be rehomed urgently due to possible eviction by the authorities.

“The more foster homes we have, the more lives we can save. We need people who can offer their homes as temporary residences for our dogs until permanent owners can be found,” Fan said.

“As a foster care volunteer, you will be giving yourself a chance to see what it would be like to have a dog companion without the permanent commitment,” she said.

Volunteers are also needed urgently to help in the daily care of these animals. If you are willing to foster or help out at the shelter, contact Fan at 012-205 2906, Sam at 012-290 0215 and April at 012-327 8060.

The group also welcomes donation in kind especially dry and canned dog food, cages and playpens, dog treats, dog shampoo and towels, and newspapers.
