Michelle has recently informed us that she is unable to continue her sponsorship for Kingsley, a distemper survivor dog, due to her recent retrenchment.
However, this does not stop her care and love towards Kingsley. She actually shared her situation with a couple of her good friends, Elise and partner and they generously offered to take over sponsorship of Kingsley until Michelle gets a job.
Thank you very much to such kind souls!
P/S: We have received a comment that disagreed with us publishing about Michelle's retrenchment (probably concerned for her feelings). However we feel Michelle's spirit of giving and caring should be commended and this is the main purpose of telling her story. Furthermore, it is retrenchment, an occurrence that is very common these days and as one other supporter aptly pointed out - it is retrenchment, Not getting sacked. May Michelle, Elise and partner be blessed for their kindness and we sincerely hope and pray that Michelle be blessed with a better job/career soon!

Pups for adoption at SPCA
SPCA has recently offered to help Second Chance rehome our pups through a weekend arrangement (there are just too many at the shelter at the moment and we are very thankful for this assistance from SPCA).
We are to bring a few healthy pups (at least 1 vaccination) to their Ampang Centre on a Saturday and if the pups are not adopted, we bring them back on Sunday evening.
So here we have 2-month-old Roy (the cream coloured) and Rosa (the black coloured) waiting at the SPCA Selangor, Jalan Kolam Air, Ampang for their forever homes. They will be there till this evening.
It was a half hour long journey for them to travel from Hulu Langat shelter and they vomited along the way. Poor lil' ones. Praying you find good homes soon!
Please call 016 3323382 if you need any information about them.

Five New Individual Kennels just got built
Another 5 individual kennels have been completed and ready to be used since Friday. These additional kennels were built in the hopes that the furkids will be more comfortable in them rather than in cages.
If you would like to help us build more kennels, kindly donate towards our Shelter's account and do email us so that we could acknowledge your kind contribution & support.

Midnight and Uncle Wong
These photos tell a thousand stories between Midnight and Uncle Wong (one of our volunteers) in the shelter. The breed of a dog does not determine their loyalty, affection and love towards the human family who are kind, caring and loving towards them.
Uncle Wong often takes Midnight for a car ride, he is always excited on the days when Uncle Wong is at shelter. After a car ride around the little village, Midnight will be happy and contented for the rest of the day.
The first picture here shows Midnight being upset when Uncle Wong was too busy with shelter works and couldn't take him for the usual car ride. He showed his unhappiness by putting his head against the tree. Who could resist that sad face right? So Uncle Wong gave in and finally took Midnight for the car ride that he so longed for!
Midnight got so upset when he can't follow Uncle for a car ride today. Finally Uncle decided to bring him out for a while and later he came back and took his nap with a satisfying smile on his face. |
Midnight feeling so at ease and happy to be in Uncle's car. |
Midnight happily enjoying the air conditionin in Uncle's car and refused to come out. Now we know who is the reason behind Midnight's attempts to climb out of the kennel. ^^ |

Charlie aka Frankie has been adopted
Charlie is a distemper and parvo virus survivor at 2 months old. He is one of the luckier ones who has just been adopted by Rania from Mont Kiara on 14th March. When we delivered Charlie to Rania, it was love at first sight for them.
His new mom has renamed him Frankie.
If Frankie passes all required tests by the Australian authorities, he will be following his new family back there end of the year.
Frankie, we wish you best of luck and hope you will have a very good life in Australia!
A very big Thank You to Rania and family who opt to adopt one Malaysian puppy. That is really so kind of you!

Mass Neutering by SPCA
Another mass neutering surgery program was held at our shelter. This session has a total of 10 dogs being neutered- 4 dogs from our shelter, Kim Ho's 4 rescued dogs and 2 dogs are from an old grandma in Hulu Langat (you may recall the "dog catching" session in our previous post).
During the surgery, we found out that Grandma's black female dog pregnant but all the babies were already dead in her womb.
It was a good thing that we managed to catch her with the great help from SPCA's team, lest her life would be in danger!
Thank you very much to SPCA's medical team for supporting our Trap Neuter Release Program.
Below a couple of photos of the session. Note:- Viewer's discretion is advised for 2nd photo.

Helping Old Grandma to spay her dogs
These 2 female dogs belong to an old Grandma in Hulu Langat. We helped to catch the dogs for spaying few days ago. It was hard trying to catch them as the fencing in the house has many "holes" and they could escape easily.
Luckily we managed to get them within half an hour. After the spaying, we will put them back to the house and grandma need not worry about any unwanted puppies anymore.
We would like to thank those who have contributed towards our neutering program, of which the primary aim is to reduce the number of strays on the streets.

Anna
Anna (in cage) has not been spayed yet as she has just been rescued off the streets last week. She is on heat now, hence so many male dogs are surrounding her.
Note though that all male dogs at our shelter are castrated (except the very old ones) in line with our policy - Spay and Don't Multiply
